Commercial Locks

Commercial Locks are available in different grades which are determined by their construction and durability and are tested by the BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association). The BHMA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop and maintain performance standards for builders hardware. To be considered Grade 1 hardware a lockset must go through 1,000,000 cycles. [One cycle consists of the knob or lever handle to be turned to completely retract the latch bolt allowing the test door to be opened. The knob or lever handle is then released allowing the test door to relatch. The turning direction of the knob is alternated every 100,000 cycles.

To read on about Grade 1 locksets see below....

MARKS USA was established in 1977 as a mortise lock manufacturing company. Since then, the company has grown and expanded. We at Pro Security Products are proud to carry Marks product line, which meets and exceeds the most stringent Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications.

Cylindrical Locksets
Marks USA Cylindrical Locksets are designed for use in situations where durability is the deciding factor. Our cylindrical lock chassis are all constructed with cast retractors on bronze roller bearings. This strong, durable component gives our cylindrical sets the ability to last millions of cycles and is available in knob and lever sets.
The Marks USA Survivor leverset has a unique "clutch" mechanism that radically reduces the wear and abuse that typical cylindrical lever sets endure. When locked, the levers of the Survivor disengage from the retractor and other interior mechanisms of the lock. The levers of the Survivor swing freely , without resistance. This reduces the amount of wear on lock components and eliminates "lever droop". The use of a clutch results in longer lasting, lower maintenance, eloquent solution.

Mortise Locksets
Marks USA has been making mortise locks for over 30 years. From their introduction, our mortise locks have enjoyed a reputation for long life and their ability to excel in high traffic, high abuse areas. Marks USA mortise locks are engineered to provide years of maintenance-free performance. Our Nova Series Mortise Locks exceed 6 million cycles of continuous use.

Electrified Locksets

Marks USA offers electrified models in both mortise and cylindrical locksets in various functions. Mortise locks and solenoid operated in 6, 12, or 24 VDC. Cylindrical locks are offered with solenoid motor actuators.
All locks are supplied with bridge rectifiers for use with either AC or DC current.

Tubular Locksets

Marks USA Tubular Locksets are available with the same trim as supplied on our mortise locks designs. These sets feature heavy duty solid brass or stainless steel trims that feel substantial and comfortable to the hand. All of our knobs and levers are permanently attached to roses at the factory, so there are no annoying set screws to loosen and fall out. Rose designs are offered in round and square shapes, with all mounting screws concealed.

-Independent lever support springs (lever sets only)
           -Lifetime Mechanical Warranty
-Full range of architectural finishes available
-Thru-bolted, screw-less trim with totally concealed screws
-Available in 4 functions: Passage, Privacy, Dummy, Communicating Doors

I-Que Access Control
The i-Que is a freestanding access control product. It allows doors to be locked or unlocked via a user-programmable keypad, rather than a key. All i-Que Locksets feature the "cableguard" to protect the wiring going through the door. Our Access Control products can be managed by the "i-Dat," a portable reader. It has pc-based audit and programming software which can upload instructions and download usage date.

EXIT DEVICES & DOOR CLOSERS

EXIT DEVICES

The basic purpose of an exit device to put it point blank is to SAVE LIVES.

-An exit device -- sometimes called a Fire Exit bolt, an Exit Bolt or a Crash Bar -- is a mechanical lock operated from the inside of an outward swing door through the use of a crossbar or push rail extending at least halfway across the width of the door.

-An exit device must always release the door, allowing exit without prior knowledge of operation.

-In any building area or room where many people may be gathered, safe and easy egress must always be possible. The number of doors that should be equipped with exit devices is determined by building codes.

DOOR CLOSERS

Why are door closers necessary:

A door installed with a properly adjusted door closer will open and close UNDER CONTROL at all times.  The door closer will prevent possible bodily injury or damage to the door and door frame. It also reduces the sound of the door closing because it prevents slamming.

Door need to be self-closing for a number of reasons:

     1. Security - doors to securited areas will always close and relock.

     2. Energy Loss - Prevents energy loss for air-conditioned or heated facilities,
         particularly on exterior doors.

     3. Sound Containment - Minimizes sound intrusion through open doors

     4. Push/Pull doors - Holds door closed when the door is not self-latching.

     5. Fire Doors - UL requires that any fire-listed door must be self-closing to stop
         the spread of fire.

DOOR CLOSER APPLICATIONS:

Standard Application- This door closer application is the most common and the most desirable. However, to protect the door closer from the weather, it should not be used on the exterior side of a door.

Top Jamb Application- This door closer application is meant for use on exterior doors that open out, protection the door closer from the weather. The door frame at the top must be wide enough to allow the application of the door closer body. This application is also used if it is preferable for the door closer to be on the opposite side of the door than in the standard application.

Parallel Arm Application- This door closer application is meant for use on exterior doors that open out, protecting the door closer from the weather. Also used when the door frame is too thin at the top of the door.
